2016 January 29ᵗʰ. Log Horizon!

おはよう!

Oh gosh, I'm getting anxious over the next post. Please, no one spoil Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? for me ;_;

I'm on to you...

今日

So-ho-ho, Log Horizon. Or, uhm, Rogu Horaizun as the katakana would have it.
The most recognizable thing about this anime to most people would be that it has clearly taken inspiration from .hack, the same source as the wildly popular Sword Art Online.
.hack//G.U. Dang, I loved that game.
I think you can clearly see that I know nigh nothing about this anime—seeing as how I almost typed that it was secondary inspiration for SAO, despite apparently having been released two years after the aforementioned subject of this post. (Thanks, Wikipedia, for your fact-checking glory.)
SO, INTO THE CONTENT.
The first thing I am greeted by as I pop into the first episode of this anime is, you guessed it, demon weasels.
Why is it always demon weasels?
Well, really Briar Weasels as they call them. But still, ankle-nibbling little devils—what I call them.
After this, we get to see some nice introduction into what the h*ll is actually going on in this place filled with evil plants and magical balls:
Shockingly, the wonderful game the loved and played and loved to play seems to have captured all of its online players within itself. Who ever could have predicted such a thing.
Anyways, the usual happens; alliances form, cute lolis are met, and someone ends up going through a painful physical metamorphosis. Just like every Wednesday.
After that, however, something quite interesting is revealed: Their prison, the game Elder Tale, is mapped onto the real shape of the Japanese archipelago.

All in all, as I tire from writing, I would watch more. If you watched SAO and hated all the love and peace nonsense, this seems to be a good anime for you, too. Thumbs up. *Ding*
So, if you plan on giving it a try, here is the link on Crunchyroll.
Here are the links on the aptly named LogHorizonEpisodes(.com), and on Kissanime.
Happy leveling!

2016 January 22ⁿᵈ. God Eater!

おはよう!

Blame the reason you're not seeing Spice and Wolf today on Holo's wolf titties.
That little troll.

今日

God Eater!
That font for the title just irks me; in EATER it uses what looks like greek sigmas (Σ) for the E's, despite it being pronounced GOD SATSR.
Although the R is an appropriate nordic-runic R. So that's nice. But inconsistent.
BUT ENOUGH ABOUT TYPOGRAPHY!
Today's impression is God Eater. From what I had heard about this show beforehand, it was almost an identical clone of Attack on Titan.
From what I've seen, I have to agree.
I mean, come on. Seriously? Lookie here, a big circular wall surrounding the last bastions of humanity from the outside giants.
I mean, the backstory is different. (As far as I know, I've not read the full backstory for Shingeki no Kyōjin.)
But still,
Seriously?

*Muffled sounds of grumpiness*
But, alas, all is forgiven. Y'see, how could anyone stay angry at this anime? No way could that happen, not with...
GIANT BAD*** GUN-SWORDS
I'm sorry. I had to.
But in all seriousness, the anime was okay.
...A little bit under okay. I didn't really like it. The animation looked like cel-shading, it made me really quite uncomfortable.
The story behind it seemed kind of average, as well.
If you really still want to watch it, I'm not stopping you.
Here is the link on Daisuki, and here on... Hulu? I am so aggravated by Hulu, I'm not even going to check if that link works. But if it tickles you, you may try that site to watch it.
See ya'!

2016 January 15ᵗʰ. Orenchi no Furo Jijō!

おはよう!

Oh my god, oh my gosh. I can't believe I did that.
...But on another note (he huu hue hue), the Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack has been sounding really good to me recently. Listen to it, seriously. It's great.
I didn't realize how much I needed this in my life

今日

This is totally appropriate, just keep reading.

First of all, I swear this is not what it looks like.
(Alright, it's, like, 43% what it looks like)
That is a man in a tub with another few people. And a snail. But I swear, it's fine. They're anthropomorphic sea creatures; (Nothing below their waists).
But I should mention that, from this point forward, if you are made uncomfortable by overt themes of yaoi, you may wish to pass along on this post. (Though the characters are all technically heterosexual, you know what I mean.)
SO,
Today's anime is Orenchi no Furo Jijō. The Circumstances in my Home's Bathtub.
I was going to do a first-impression of this later in the year, but for, uh, personal reasons I went ahead and decided to do one now.
Y'see, it was decided that it'd be a first-impression. It's just, the episodes are 4:00 each, and I may've gotten a ~bit~ carried away and watched the entire series.
So now you see, it's a review. Hooray!

This anime is friggin' great.
It's incredibly cute, funny, and the characters don't overstay their welcome.
Er, well, it's debatable that the anime is about Takasu, the merman, overstaying his welcome—but that's not the point. The side characters exeunt just at a time leaving you wishing they would stay; that is, the show has really quite-nice pacing.
While all goes on in this happy world of Tatsumi—the human—and his friends, you can kind of feel just a sense that everything is a bit off.
Something just seems wrong in the atmosphere, (and it's not the giant fishman living in Tatsumi's tub).
It's like every character is, deep down, just a little bit evil. Manipulative, working for an agenda, whatever you'd like to call it. And it makes it all the better.
Speaking for myself, also somewhat evil, that mood makes the show all the more relatable and hilarious.
Now, I'd really rather you just watch this. The episodes are four minutes in length, so it's not too huge of a time commitment.
Here's the link on Crunchyroll.
Here it is on Kissanime, and here on Gogoanime.
...As for that Gogoanime site, its TLD is .io, but it refers to itself within the site as ".tv." Something about that discomfits me; I suggest using the other two sites first in priority.

2016 January 8ᵗʰ. Happy New Year, Time for Anime!

おはよう!

I'm back! Hooray!
Have a good holiday? Mine was pretty alright.
Now, let's get down to business:
Anime.

I will be starting back up with some first impressions on anime from next week and will require some to, y'know, impress me.
So far I've got on my mystery list to check out:

  1. Spice and Wolf
  2. God Eater
  3. Log Horizon
  4. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
  5. Free! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
  6. And Orenchi no Furo Jijō, if I'm feeling really daring.

At least mostly appropriate

Now, then. I would also greatly appreciate if you, the person(s) reading this right now, would contribute your favourite somewhat-appropriate anime to the list! Leave a comment with a title!
Alternatively, if you have any commentary on the episodes I've already put in this list (Watch this one first, etc.) feel free to share it!
It's about time now for me to go—
See ya', and have a fantastic coming year!

2015 December 11ᵗʰ. Kill La Kill!

おはよう!

Hello hello again, may your day've been good and your filet have been wood. Wait, what?
I don't think this is what they meant when they said "Wooden Stake"

Kyou—yes, today—I speak of Kill la Kill. From the creators of Gurren Lagann, what a wonderful show.
I say, this anime is not for the faint of heart. Or children for that matter.
Mainly just not for children. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I loved this show's beginning because of its goofy animation, and, uh, some other things. <insert lennies>
Like the plot. Yes, definitely the plot.
Anywho, I really should not talk about this show for too long. Because reasons.
So just go watch it if you're old enough. Go. Now. You have to. Trust me. You perv.
Here is the link on Crunchyroll.
And here is the link on Viewster, seemingly a nice site for these sorts of things.

2015 December 4ᵗʰ. Kaizoku F no Shouzou!

おはよう!

Heya. Y'know, some schools in the U.S. are soon to finish with their classes for the year. What an exciting prospect:
Sleep.

Also, trying out a new feature. Text in my posts in red will give extra information on mouseover!

今日

So this post is about a song, referenced in the previous post on this blog, named Kaizoku F no Shouzou. In English, Portrait of the Pirate F.
To reiterate, this is a Vocaloid song sung by five Vocaloids: Luka, Meiko, Rin/Len, and Kaito. This list is… Far, far larger than on most songs. In fact, it has the highest number of singers of any (decent) Vocaloid song that I've ever heard (in my memory). And boy, it is decent.
This song is really quite nice, it has a duet of Kagamine Rin and Len—who were literally made to harmonize with each other—along with a whole lot of other Vocaloids and their own unique characters within the song's story.
As for the story, it is, of course, mainly a part of this song's promotional video (PV). It tells a new take on the otherwise familiar tale of Peter Pan through the wonderful world of Vocaloid.
Of course, Len (the male Kagamine twin) is to be "Pitāwhile Rin is his friendly fairy familiar. Now, here's something to try and notice in the song:
Rin (Tinkerbell) takes Peter to their Neverland, seemingly to save the inhabitants from Captain Hook (Kaito)—but, later in the video it is also hinted at that Rin took Hook there to begin with!
Furthermore, in the scenes that flash by within the final scene (while I attempt my best to avoid spoilers) it seems highly likely the she has continued her scheme; her endless cycle.
If you want to know what I mean by all that (unless you could already extrapolate it yourself) what you need to now do—and I implore you to such—is to watch and listen through this great song.
I have, for you, a link here, on YouTube.
Additionally, if you have an account for this (really quite great) site Nico Nico Douga, here's the link for that as well.
Do note that while the YouTube broadcast does have subtitles, they are limited to the Japanese originals. For a translation and transliteration (as well as additional information) wander over to the ever-helpful Vocaloid Wiki page for Kaizoku F no Shouzou.
Thank you ever so much for being here today. Have a good week. Farewell!
